OUR WORST NIGHTMARE: A CONSTITUTIONAL DICTATORSHIP
What is a dictator? There are many levels of dictatorships; one must look into the one that is in front of us, sitting on the chair of power, right in our own nation… if that’s the case. Among the many kinds of dictatorship, the most dangerous one is the “constitutional dictatorship”.
A constitutional dictator pretends to defend the constitution but in reality abhors it. It takes a lot of knowledge, at the beginning, to point out these characters, who are gaining power right at the backyard of the United States of America, endangering democratic principles and, most of all: our economy‘s stability. It is, sort of speak, a terminal cancer which, at the end, could reach the heart of the most powerful country in the Planet Earth… if we, as the people, do nothing about it.
If we don’t eat well, keep in shape and stay away from harmful practices, our bodies will eventually give up and we will be prone to become ill: terribly ill! Viruses, of many kinds, will take advantage of our immunological system, and before we realize our physical – and mentally – condition: is too late!
These modern dictators, the constitutional dictators, are dangerous viruses that take advantage of the social and economical situation of the subject countries where they lay their eyes on. A poor educational system, critical poverty, political and economical instability, lack of national leadership and a complete ignorance of the illness related to this new kind of dictatorship are the elements needed for these viruses to take control upon a given nation… not necessarily a Third World one!
As with many physical or mental illness, the people of the endanger country – suffering all or most of the symptoms mentioned above, should prepare themselves to face reality and get ready to fight back: to fight back for their freedom.
Freedom is not free. We must be willing to pay for its high price… or get ready to live – the rest of our life –without it. At the first symptom of dictatorship penetration, we must start working: together!
Modern dictators, the constitutional ones, obtain power throughout non-violence methods. We must get rid of them the same way. They are using elections to obtain power; in many cases, elections are not enough to get rid of them.
When in power, these dictators know what they need to do in order to stay on. They create new sources of interest; control institutions, banks, big business. They increase poverty and will do nothing to improve economical and political instability, even though they show themselves working on these subjects, day and night. We will hear a lot of noise, but will not see much result. They will promise to conquer the moon, but will never get off the ground… as time goes by.
Time is what these dictators need in order to perpetuate themselves on power; time, and a great ability to lie to their people. While you are wondering what is going on, they will keep on working on their only goal: stay in power for ever.
Since their main allied is the constitution, they will work on changing it to fit their evil needs. You will think it will be impossible and when it happens, you will think again… but it will be too late, since we have run out of time. I have seen this phenomenon twice in my lifetime: once in Cuba, where I was born; then in Venezuela, where I was raised in exile. We must fight for time and take it away from them. We must wake up NOW!
Only the Mighty God is more powerful than a united nation fighting for its rights. We should not beg for freedom: we most conquer freedom! The power is right at the tip of our fingers, if only we work together, united. We must set aside everything we are doing and place our minds and souls to fight back.

Robert Alonso is an anticommunist patriot, writer, well known in the Spanish world for his political articles. Mr Alonso was born in Cuba where his family suffered the hardship of business confiscation and redistribution of wealth by the Cuban regime. At a very young age, his family abandoned everything and left Cuba to live in Venezuela where they built, again, a prosperous business. Chavez, knowing about his anticommunist ideas, didn’t lose any time confiscating his businesses and his well known hacienda “Daktari”. Mr Alonso, again took his family, running for his life, to the nearby Colombia border and for the second time abandoned his belongings in search for freedom. Finally arrived in the United States where he continues writing his articles.
